As you prepare to sell...Don't forget about CURB APPEAL

There are so many things to think about as you prepare to sell your home.  As we head into the busy months and spring with all evidence of winter behind us, I strongly advise that you do take a look at your curb appeal.

While you’re preparing to sell your home, curb appeal should be a priority now that we are out of the winter months. When someone is walking by or coming to your open house, the outside of your home is the first thing they will see. If there is no curb appeal, potential buyers may not have that "WOW" factor initially, and worst case, may never even set foot in your home.

So, be sure you are not ignoring your home’s outdoor appearance, consider making some budget-friendly changes that can add appeal to your home without breaking the bank.
1. Landscape Your Walkway
It is always a great idea to create a smooth transition from the street to your front door if possible. Clean your walkway, sweeping up any pebbles or broken off concr ...

All Aboard Matey... Shiplap is the DIY Project of the Year!

Shiplap is filling homes across the country. I recently saw a home that updated an office with shiplap. Adorable and affordable! Love that! AND LOVE Chip and Joanna Gaines for bringing this neutral wall covering to our attention. Shiplap can give you a beautiful feature wall without having to choose an accent color you may not be too crazy about in a few months. If done wisely, it doesn't have to be expensive either. Here is what you will need to create your own shiplap without breaking the bank.

What You'll Need:

nail gun and nails
table saw
compound miter saw
stud finder
underlayment plywood
construction adhesive
1/8 inch tile spacers
spackling paste
250 grit sandpaper
paint (with primer included)

NTS: (Note to Self) Did you know that Lowe's and Home Depot will cut your plywood into planks if you don't have the tools at home?

Step 1: Prep Your Planks

Measure the wall you plan to shiplap and make sure you get enough plywood to cover the wall. 6 inch planks ...

Simple Spring Spruce-Up Tips

It is not necessary to spend thousands of dollars to remodel and refurbish your home before selling. You can find DIY makes a giant statement with just some TLC.  Whether you are selling your home, having visitors or you are just feeling drab about your space. Here are a few quick tips to use to refresh and rejuvenate home.

Until you dig in, we forget how much stuff we hide and accumulate. Sometimes it is hard to even hide after a while. Once you throw out all the junk, you will begin to see the features of your home again. You may even decide to stay and not sell. Store the things you want and don't use and get rid of the rest. Once you have de-cluttered, it is time to clean. Clean,  Clean, Clean everything especially walls, floors, and windows.

If you have heavy window coverings, take them down! Seriously! This one thing makes your home feel much larger,  and they will come alive with al ...

Getting creative in the Mudroom

April showers bring May flowers… and potentially the need for a space to kick off muddy boots and hang up the raincoats and umbrellas.  Fall and Winter bring heavy coats, scarves, and more boots. And whatever the season, it’s nice to have a place to keep it all organized. A Mudroom can be just about any size. Not every home comes with a separate room to designate as a mudroom but with some creativity, I am sure you can transform a wall, hallway, entrance, closet, garage into a unique separate area that is now YOUR VERY OWN MUDROOM. This space whether it is large or small has added benefits to a home in more ways than one.
Keep the Home Cleaner
No one likes to have the kids tracking in a bunch of dirt or mud every time they walk into the home. A mudroom creates a middle ground between the outside and the home. Family members can use the mudroom as a place to hold wet shoes, boots, coats and other outdoor gear. This keeps the wet mess out of the house.
Organize the E ...
