If you are a home seller in today’s fast-paced Spokane market you’ll want to take a closer look at what home buyers are looking for as they search for a new home.
A laundry room on the main living floor tops the list according to forbes.com. Quite frankly people are tired of walking over dirty laundry in the hallway, or in the kitchen. Putting the laundry behind closed doors is a must and buyers are looking to set it and forget it until they can get to it. I, for one, can definitely relate! Buyers are also looking for energy-efficient appliances to save on costs.
Buyers are also looking for an open concept kitchen opening up into either a dining area and/or the living area. The importance of being able to keep an eye on kiddos, socialize with friends and family, and having enough space and seating for everyone who comes to visit is a high priority. High end finishes that buyers gawk over include stainless steel, white cabinetry, granite countertops, or natural stone. If you are looking to update some of your finishes before listing your home I would definitely recommend painting your cabinets white, adding beautifully finished knobs and handles, and making sure the rest of your finishes throughout your home match.
A kitchen pantry is also high on the list according to forbes.com. Homebuyers are concerned about having enough space in order to declutter and organize and a kitchen pantry is a perfect solution to do both. In fact, extra storage either inside, or outside the home will also attract home buyers.
It’s not surprising that homebuyers in Spokane are also looking for hardwood floors. Carpet absorbs smells, stains easily, and can become outdated and dingy especially if you have pets or children. Hardwood floors are easier to keep clean and retain their classic look over time. I don’t even mind seeing the scratches, dings, and knicks in older hardwood floors. I love the “lived-in and loved” look of a home. Each scratch has a story.
These are just a few of the things that home buyers have looked for this year. Stay tuned for more improvement you can make as a home seller in order to sell your home for top dollar here in Spokane.
