The preparation to sell your home is under way, and then you look around and think to yourself....Now we have to pack all of these items....
If you’re getting ready to move, this is inevitable, you will have to pack up your home. There is no getting around it. Either you will pack it, or you will have to hire someone to pack you up and on to your next adventure. This is one of the first things that tends to cause stress in the process is the fear of packing all of your stuff.
Whether you’ve been in your current space for a few months or several years, you’ve probably accumulated plenty of things you use and love, possibly family heirlooms, and then there are those items you haven’t touched since you brought them home. Trust me, I don't know anyone that doesn't have that situation. Maybe they never even made it out of the box they arrived in....GUILTY over here! All those that are also guilty of this raise your hand! haha!
Well, before this happens again, now is the perfect time to purge those items and start fresh in your new home with intentional decor and less clutter. Plus, in the long run, this is going to save you either time, or money. Both of which are not in endless supply, right? So, I say either way it's a win for you!
Here are some of the things you’ll save when you let go:
Save your Time
Instead of waiting until you’re ready to move, start sorting through your items now. Have each family member create a stack of items that can be moved out of the home now. I know in my house, we all have several items that fall on this list. Sell, donate, or trash the items that you’ve decided don’t have a place in your future home, or just don't have a purpose for you anymore even in your current home. Have you read Marie Kondo? Get rid of the things that no longer bring you Joy :) Now, just think....when you’re ready to pack up for your move, you’ll save so much TIME because you’ll have less to pack (and unpack). Sounds great to me!

Save your Money
Arrange to have a moving sale before your home lists. You can make a little extra money before the big move, and your belongings will become someones new treasure and bring them happiness! And it will bring you happiness as they take away their items because you won't have to worry about packing these items up! Heck, you might even be able to get a smaller moving truck! WINNING!
Sometimes items can take up a great deal of emotional energy. It is often in our nature to cling to things that may have meant something in our past, but have no place in our future. Get rid of that baggage and create an intentional environment with positive energy in your new home. You may even feel a weight lifted and energy shift as soon as you let these items go.
Instead of taking the clutter from your current place into your new home, save space by getting rid of it now. Open spaces in your new home will bring you peace of mind and joy. You will also save space in that moving truck....:) Don't forget about that!
Plus, the likely-hood that your new home would accommodate all of the exact same furnishings is probably not very high. Almost always, rooms will be a different size, or layout, or have a different feel all together. Each home has it's own unique feel and if you have already lightened up what you are moving into it, this will allow you to determine what type of furnishings will fit the space best and go have a fun afternoon or two shopping! This is my FAVORITE part personally! You never have to ask this girl to go shopping twice! I'm there!
If you've done all this saving and you're ready to save even more on a new home, give me a call!
