Listing Your Home and Survive the Showings!
Don’t worry! I have three tips for how to survive this with ALL your hair intact.
1. Have a great Realtor
One of the most important things is working with a Realtor who you like, trust and communicate well with. This will make the process of scheduling showings go so much smoother. You don’t want to have an agent who lacks communication, and have buyers show up to view your home when you’re not expecting it. This is another reason to interview multiple agents!
2. Have a daily time block for showings
A lot of buyers will request short notice showings, particularly in this market when homes are being snapped up so quickly. Rather than having to deal with scheduling showings, have a time slot blocked off where buyers can view the home without making an appointment. That way, you won’t be having to leave and come back and leave again. This will not only make it easier for you, but also makes it easier for buyers who have multiple homes that they’re viewing. If there is someone that can’t view it during your time block, you can schedule a time for them.
3. Organize!
Having your home organized will not only help it show well but will also make it easier for you to keep it tidy for showings. You should do a deep cleaning before you list your home, after that just keep up on tidying.
And an extra little tip; lock away any valuables and personal items! While all buyers should be accompanied by their agent, they WILL open cabinets and drawers and closets. Remember, they are deciding whether to make your home their own!
