6 Reasons Why I Love Being a Realtor

I personally have done a variety of jobs in my 40 years and thought of myself a jack of all customer service trades. From the fry girl at McDonalds at the age of 16 to a nanny in my 20s. When I decided to take the huge, very scary jump to become a realtor, I had no idea that I would fall in love with Real Estate as much as I have. Here are six reasons why I fell in love with real estate:

1. The clients

Luckily I have spent my life working with people you have to enjoy working with people in order to be a successful real estate agent. It would be dishonest to say that it always goes awesome, but the relationships and interactions are a huge part of why I love this industry.

2. No day is ever the same

One day may be smooth as silk where the others are covered in fire and smoke. But it’s great because every day you’ll get to go on a new adventure that could lead to a closed deal, or a trip to the park to play with your kids. If you like variety, you will fall in love.

3. The thrill of the chase

While prospecting or showing up to appointments that go nowhere are not the most exciting, it’s those very things that make us appreciate our wins that much more. The pursuit, the hopes and dreams of success, the sweat you have to put in to make things happen — all of these are the ingredients for a successful real estate career, and we appreciate the work more than we are willing to admit.

4. Lots of time on my own

While you definitely work with lots of different people, it also has its share of alone time, and is very much an independent profession. Success will happen unless you make it happen yourself, so if you’re an independent-minded person who enjoys being out on your own, not only will you be successful but you’ll also fall in love with the feeling of creating your own destiny.

5. When it’s good, it’s really, really good

While the lows are very painful, the highest are amazing. If you’ve never experienced the joy of a signed contract, or a clear to close, then you have no clue just how energized and happy a signature or a few words can make you feel. Any doubts about the profession can be immediately wiped out, and you can fall in love with real estate all over again and remember why you are in this profession.

6. Because I care

I’d love to say that because you do something you love, then you’ll never work another day in your life. But that’s not exactly true, you’ll still have to work very hard. This industry isn’t for just anyone. You have to REALLY want what is best for your clients. So much so that you feel what they feel and shed the tears when an offer is rejected and jump for joy with them when their home gets that amazing offer. And also because you care, you will appreciate it in a way that’s different than almost any other job you could possibly have, which is all the more reason to fall in love with it.
