10 Tips to Wow Potential Homebuyers

Last week, I wrote a blog on 10 things that turn off homebuyers. Today, I’m going to be talking about the opposite! What are some things that you can do to impress potential buyers?

1.       Curb Appeal

Make sure that your front yard is well maintained, and add a pop of color with a bright front door and/or some colorful flowers.

2.       Natural Light

Let The Light In!  Make sure that any heavy curtains are removed, and replace them with light, airy ones. Buyers want lots of natural light!

3.       Organization

Whether your house has a lot of storage or a little, keeping organized helps every home look like it’s a storage castle.  Get rid of any clutter (rent a storage unit if you have to!) and use labeled containers in closets, pantries and cabinets.

4.       Laundry Room

One of the number one things buyers want this year is an updated laundry room. Add organization for laundry soaps and fabric softeners, and if you have the space, have a nice folding table and some decoration. It may even be worth spending the money to add a laundry room, if you don’t already have one.

5.       Good Smells

Smells unlock a part of our memory. Make your home stand out in buyer’s minds, so later they say “oh right, that was the house that smelled like cinnamon rolls!” (Plus, who doesn’t like cinnamon rolls!)

6.       Professional Photos

44% of homebuyers start their home search online. 17% start by talking to a Realtor, but even then they will look at your photos before decided whether to view the home!  Having professional photos is SO important.

7.       Update Bathroom and Kitchen Items

Get some plush, hotel type towels, rugs, and soap dispensers for the bathrooms and remove any mismatched, outdated ones. Add some cute décor items.

8.       Modernize

Depending on the style of your home, modernization will attract many buyers. Remove any outdated décor, and add more modern pieces.

9.       Make it Cozy

Buyers love to feel like they could be comfortable and cozy in the home. Along with the good smells, add some throw blankets, pillows, and large comforters on the beds.

10.   Give Them Something to Remember

You really want your home to stick out in a buyers mind, among all the other ones they see.  “That was the really cool home with the ___”.  A sliding barn door, wood accent wall, cool water feature, or anything that makes your home unique (in a good way!) will help it stand out.
